This grief pet loss poem expresses how, once joyful, birthdays can become heavy with sorrow after losing a beloved pet. In this tribute, the author shares the sorrow of celebrating a milestone birthday without their cherished companion.
Today is my birthday, a milestone day.
But my joy is overshadowed in a major way.
Grief still lingers; I have a heavy heart.
Missing my furry friend, right from the start.
There’s no cake, no candles, no celebration, no cheer.
Without you here, joy is not near.
I search for happiness, but it’s hard to find.
I’m one year older, but without you by my side.
The pain of losing you, it still remains.
A bittersweet reminder of joy and love in vain.
Tomorrow will be just another day.
And missing you will begin all over, again.
