Tribute to Bailey

His Story

Bailey was my Golden Retriever, but more than that, he was my mate. This is a tribute to Bailey, a loyal companion who stayed by my side through every journey, every place, and every part of life.

We found him in a market in Guangdong, China. He was just a sad little puppy in a small cage. Something about him stayed with us, and we couldn’t walk away. We went back for him and brought him home, knowing he deserved more than the life he had started with.

From that moment on, he became part of our family and part of us.

The Gentle Giant

Bailey grew into a soft giant, weighing 50kg, but with the gentlest nature you could imagine. He had a happy smile that said everything you needed to know about him.

If I had to describe him in a few words, I’d say he was a true loyal friend. The kind you don’t come across often. The kind that stays.

He wasn’t just a dog. He was something steady, something constant.

The Little Things

Bailey loved water. If he saw it, he was in it. No hesitation. A proper water baby.

Some of his happiest moments were swimming in the Li River in Yangshuo, Guangxi. Watching him there, free and in his element, is something I’ll never forget.

He loved to travel, too. Bailey saw more of the world than most. China, Macao, Hong Kong, Australia. Wherever we went, he came along, always ready for the next journey.

At home, he had his routines. If he were hungry, he’d bring you his food bowl. Bailey loved to dress up and the smiles this would bring.

And when it came to rest, he’d sleep on your feet. Always close. Always there.

Our Bond

We called him Mr B.

It suited him.

The bond we shared was simple. We were mates. No need to dress it up more than that.

He brought joy not just to me, but to everyone he met along the way. There was something about him that people connected with. A calmness. A kindness.

He was the kind of dog who would follow you anywhere, no questions asked. Through every place, every change, every part of life.

Always Remembered

One memory that always stays with me is when we were camping on the beach. Bailey was in the tent, lying on his bed with his head on his pillow, like he was one of us.

That was Bailey.

Part of everything.

The day we lost him broke our hearts.

But even now, I find myself smiling when I think of him. The memories are still there, and they always will be.

If I could say one thing to him now, it would be simple.
I love you, and I miss you, mate.

He was a gentle giant.
A unique and loyal friend.
The kind you don’t replace.

💛 Bailey, you brought so much joy and happiness to us all. Thank you. I miss you, and my heart still aches. But I know you are at peace, knowing we love you and all miss you. Run free, Mr B.
