Tribute to Mei Mei

Tribute to Mei Mei

Her Story

Mei Mei was my cat, my companion, and my best friend for sixteen beautiful years.

I didn’t choose her; she chose me. From the very first moment, there was something special between us, as though she had already decided that I was to be her person.

She had the cutest pink nose and the most mesmerising green eyes, which would follow me around the room. Even now, when I think of her, I still picture her exactly as she was, curled up nearby, watching over me.

Her Spirit

Mei Mei had a strong spirit. I always described her as a little gangster. She was protective, fearless in her own way, and moved about the house as if she owned it, a real little Queen Bee.

But beneath that bold personality was the cat who became my light during some of the darkest moments of my life. She had a way of making me feel less alone without doing very much at all. Just her presence beside me was enough to comfort me.

One of my earliest memories of her is how affectionate she was, giving kisses on the lips as though it was the most natural thing in the world. That was my Mei Mei. Loving, confident, and completely herself. There will never be another cat like her.

The Little Things

Mei Mei loved sleeping in my bed and claimed the chairs in the house as her own special places. Wherever she settled became her kingdom for the day.

Every morning, as soon as she woke up, she would come running to me. It became part of our routine and one of the things I most looked forward to. She was the sunshine to my day.

Oh, how she would demand her food with a loud, confident meow. She was a real diva, making sure everyone knew exactly what she wanted. Those loud little demands became part of the soundtrack of daily life with her.

We spent so many quiet moments together, napping side by side and watching television. They may have seemed like ordinary moments to anyone else, but to me, they were everything.

I called her Dolly, a nickname that became my special way of saying love.

Our Bond

Mei Mei was more than a pet to me. She was my best friend forever.

She brought light into my life when I needed it most. In moments of darkness, she grounded me simply by being there. There was comfort in her closeness, in her loud, demanding cries for food and the sound of her moving around the house.

The bond we shared felt deep and unspoken. She understood me in ways that are hard to explain. It was as if she simply knew me.

I want her to know, always, how deeply she was loved.

Always Remembered

One memory that still stays with me is those mornings when she would wake up and run to me immediately. Such a small thing, yet it means so much now.

Saying goodbye to Mei Mei was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I did not want her to feel any more pain. So I chose to carry that pain instead so she could finally be free and at peace.

What remains now is the love she left behind. She is embedded in my heart forever.

I hope people who read this remember one thing because of Mei Mei: always help an animal. Their love can change your life in ways you never expected.

🐾 Closing Reflection

Some bonds never leave us, even after goodbye. They stay in the quiet routines we still remember, the spaces they once claimed, and the love that continues long after their physical presence is gone. Mei Mei’s story is a reminder that the smallest companions can leave the deepest marks upon our hearts.
