Impressionist painting of a man standing before a mirror, seeing the reflection of a young boy and his brindled dog, glowing softly in warm dawn light — symbolizing love, memory, and the eternal bond between souls.

Echolight

Echolight

And he came from the hush
in between heartbeats
a brindled blur
with eyes like dusk
soft as silence
sharp as sorrow…
named him Echo
for he answered every ache
I never uttered…

He danced through days
like dandelion dust
chasing clouds
with paws of paint
His bark a bell
that broke my blues
his tail a brushstroke
on my fate….

He slept in spirals
dreamt in hues
amber…azure…amethyst rain…
a dog who saw the world
not in black and white
But in the kaleidoscope
of kindness…

We wandered woods where
trees told tales
and puddles whispered
prophecies…
He’d sniff the stars
then sigh
as if he knew their
secrets…

And then one fateful dawn
he didn’t wake…
just vanished
no whimper.. no weight…
I searched the sky
and scratched
the soil
then strolled the secret
street of soul….

Only to find him in my
mirror’s mist
a boy with echo’s eyes
and fur still on his
fingertips…
Now I walk beside myself
a paradox of pet
and person
knowing love never leaves
It simply learns
new shapes….
