Sable a pit bull mix terrier. Tribute to Sable

Tribute to Sable Webb

Our Story with Sable

Our story started at a local animal shelter. I found Sable’s Petfinder profile online and wanted to meet him.

When the worker opened Sable’s kennel door, she could hardly get the leash around him. He bolted straight over to me. I was sitting down because Sable was known to be shy and I wanted to make him more comfortable. He immediately laid his head into my lap. He was looking up at me with his beautiful brown eyes.

I heard gasps. I looked around and noticed how surprised the staff was. They told me that he would hide in the back of his kennel from anyone who wanted to meet him. Sable chose me.

I adopted him, and he left the shelter on April 3, 2016. We spent eight beautiful years together, full of love and adventures. Sable taught me a whole new level of patience, understanding and unconditional love during our years together. He truly was my “soul dog.”

I swear, there is something so extraordinarily special about owning your first dog. Life is very different without hearing the pitter patter of his paws hitting the floor as he walked all over the house, his sassy bark when he wanted something, the sound of his paws scratching at his beds to get comfortable before laying down, and his loud snores when he slept at night. It might sound weird, but his snoring always put me right to sleep.

My mornings no longer include a daily park walk where I would get to watch Sable roll around in the grass so happily. It was his favorite part of the day, as it was mine too.

I will miss him forever. I will always be so grateful we saved each other and that he chose me to be his mama.

I love you more, Sable.
